It's Show and Tell Time!

Inside Man

Posted in Movies by Sandwich on April 25, 2010

It was a thoughtful film, starring these awesome actors (and actress): Denzel Washington, Clive Owen and Jodie Foster. Here are the lines worth watching out for: “I’m no martyr. I did it for the money. But it’s not worth much if you can’t face yourself in the mirror. Respect is the ultimate currency. I was stealing from a man who traded his away for a few dollars. And then he tried to wash away his guilt. Drown it in a lifetime of good deeds and a sea of respectability. It almost worked, too. But inevitably, the further you run from your sins, the more exhausted you are when they catch up to you. And they do. Certain. It will not fail.”

Green Tea Latte

Posted in Food by Sandwich on November 5, 2009

I found a new favorite drink!  Green Tea Latte!  I’ve tasted Starbucks’ and Coffee Bean’s versions, and I love both.  So, so yummy.  I find it amazing how they combined two things which I find healthy: milk + green tea.  Anyway, now DSC01576that I’m very concerned with savings, I can’t afford it regularly, so I’m looking for a cheaper way for my Green Tea Latte fix.  Nyahaha.  I’m going to make my own!  Green Tea Latte, according to my Google findings, can be made by using “Matcha.”  It is found in Japanese groceries, so I’m on the lookout now.  Plus, there’s more!  It can be used for baking! Very interesting, hmmm. 😉

Found Inspiration at an LV Store

Posted in Products by Sandwich on October 24, 2009

I go inside a Louis Vuitton shop not for their bags, not for their shoes, not for their jewelry, not for their sunglasses (although they looked good on me when I tried them on *harhar*), not for their watches, but, read this: for their scrapbooks!  Got to love them!  So pretty.  I got inspired and my hands started itching for my watercolors, my brushes and my sketchpad!!  😉

DSC01489The store uses the scrapbooks for design.  They pair it up with the leather goods on display.  I asked and they told me that they sell them at P4700 per book.  There is a scrapbook for each city, and right now, at Greenbelt 5, they have ten cities available, among them Paris, Peking, and my favorite Rio de Janeiro.

Well, I think it goes to show that fashion houses don’t just get ideas tout de suite (French for right away). They get their hands dirty too!  I might as well do the same with where I am now! 😉

Meet my painted carabao, Corazon!   I was on my way home last night, but there was an art activity in our office building, so I stayed and joined.  CorazonIt was on designing papier mache figures.

I got a blue carabao, and I dressed it up, and turned it into a pretty thing.  She’s a lady.  She’s got eyeshadow and red lipstick.  She also has yellow swirls and red hearts dotting her body.  One look at my carabao and the teacher told me, “You’re in love, kitang-kita sa mga hearts.”  And I just laughed and thought out my reply, “Haha, now?  Not really.”  Well I loved what I was doing then, maybe that’s the reason for all the hearts.   Haha!

I missed doing these kinds of things.. I haven’t painted in months!!  I’m glad to be back.  Corazon’s helped in pumping up the creativity in my veins.  Haha!  Artistico, here we go!

It was surprising, and it was enjoyable.  Hmmm.  I wonder what today will bring. 😉

We’re gonna get through this! :)

The past few days have been tough for Filipinos.  With less than 300 deaths, flooded houses, floating cars, and lots of evacuees, yes, this is tough.  We have been bombarded with news on the typhoon Ondoy since September 26, most of them bad. It is, however, innate in us to look for laughter, despite the hardships. Here is a collection of good-naturedness worth commending.  (Courtesy of Facebook, YouTube and Tumblr.)  Mabuhay ang katatagan at kasiyahan ng Pinoy! 🙂

One cool surfer!

And here’s one hunky surfer!

President GMA

Walang kawala pa rin si Kanye.. haha!

And of course, here’s Cheniffer, making the most out of Ondoy! Summer na summer, kahit mejo bumabagyo na.. Win!! Hahaha!!

On a more serious note, I pray that those affected will fight to the end.  We’re bracing ourselves for another storm, but we can do this!  God help us. 🙂

Now this is why I admire Bad Boy Robin Padilla

On his jail time: “Noong nagka-kaso ako, inisip kong mamundok. Pero sabi ni Liezl, pagtakas sa problema ’yon. Kaya hinarap ko at nagpakulong ako ngrobin_padilla three and a half years. Praise God, doon namulat ang mga mata ko.”

On becoming an international actor like Jet Li: “Okay na ako sa paghahanap ko sa sarili ko, through martial arts. Iba ang journey niya. Iba ang journey ko.”

I got this from today’s article at Inquirer: here.

That is the reason why I believe his Revicon commercial: “Wag kang aayaw, think positib!” It seems he is speaking based on his personal experiences.  His character is admirable. 😉

I’d like to share with you these Nike commercials.  I am learning a lot from these athletes, hope you’d be learning from them too.  Watch them, just do it! 😉

“Look me in the eye.  It’s okay if you’re scared.  So am I, but we’re scared for different reasons.  I’m scared of what I won’t become.  And you’re scared of what I could become.  Look at me.  I won’t let myself end up where I started.  I won’t let myself finish where I began.  I know what is within me, even if you can’t see it yet.  Look me in the eyes.  I have something more important than courage.  I have patience.  I will become what I know I am.”

“It’s not about the shoes.  It’s about knowing where you’re going.  Not forgetting where you started.  It’s about having the courage to fail.  Not breaking, when you’re broken.  Taking everything you’ve been given.  And making something better.  It’s about work, before glory.  And what’s inside of you, is doing what they say you can’t.  It’s not about the shoes.  It’s about what you do in them.  It’s about being who you’re born to be.”

“I’m too weak. Too slow. Too big.  I ate too much for breakfast.  I’ve got a headache.  It’s raining.  My dog is sick.  I can’t right now.  I’m not a spider.  This makes me smell bad.  I’m allergic to stuff.  I’m fat.  I’m thin.  It’s too hot.  I’m not right.  I’ve got shin splints.  Headache.  I’m distracted.  I don’t like exerting myself too much.  I love too, really, but I can’t.  I just can’t.  My favorite show is on.  I got a case on Monday.  On Tuesday.  On Wednesday.  I don’t wanna do this.  I wanna do something else.  After new year’s.  Next week.  I might make a mistake.  I got homework.  I feel bloated.  I have gas.  I got a hot date.  My coach hates me.  Momma won’t let me.  I bruise easily.  It’s too dark.  It’s too cold.  My blister hurts.  This is dangerous.  Ugh.  Sorry, I don’t have a bike.  I didn’t get enough sleep.  My tummy hurts.  This is not in my genes.  I don’t want to look all tired now.  I need a better coach.  I don’t like getting tackled.  I have a stomachache.  I’m not the athletic type.  I don’t wanna get sweaty.  I have better things to do.  I don’t wanna slow you down.  Do I have to do this?  As soon as I get a promotion…  Well, my feet hurt.”

Chinese food, coming up!

Posted in Food by Sandwich on September 11, 2009

I am very fond of baking, but I think I ought to take a break from it..  Why?  Because I am focused in learning how to perfectly bake brownies and revel bars and lemon squares while I’m trying to eat and live healthy.  Doesn’t work, hahaha!  Have to concentrate on real food, like this one: beef and brocolli–yum yum!  Chinese food, I’m going to try to cook you. =D  I’m targetting that at the end of this year, I can cook at least 3 Chinese dishes deliciously! =D

I’ve been busy lately, that’s the reason for the few posts and the few words..  But 3 sentences is better than nothing, right?  Haha..  Take a look at this photo.  I like it, and I like them!! =D  Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and two of their “United Colors of Benetton” kids.

This blows ’em all away!

I’ve got a new favorite song! Van Halen’s song, “Why can’t this be love?” Bagong bago, haha. A song made in year 1986, I loved it so much it made me finish a difficult task at work.  Yebaroo. I want to give Van Halen a hug.
